The Word and the Nail
Golem and Talos
The Golem fires off tasks and the Talos checks them, which is a production line waiting to happen. One types 'fix it' and moves on; the other comes back next morning to confirm it was fixed. A rare pair in which speed and vigilance genuinely like each other.
Together
The Golem drafts, the Talos reviews, and the work ships fast and clean without either of them wasting a word.
Friction
The Talos wants test cases. The Golem regards a test case as an unnecessary noun.
The myths agree
Each myth hangs on a single point of failure. In the golem stories told of Rabbi Elijah of Chełm (written down in 1674 and 1748), erase one letter of emet (truth) on its brow and it reads met (dead). In Apollodorus, Talos's one vein is sealed by a single bronze nail, and in one version Medea simply draws it out (Bibliotheca 1.9.26).
