Showpieces That Walk Away
Performer and Daidalon
The Performer plays with the AI; the Daidalon interrogates it. One loves a confident improvisation, the other cannot let one pass without a source. Unlikely friends, but both know the machine can perform as if it were alive, and both find that thrilling.
Together
The Performer makes learning fun and the Daidalon makes sure the fun is true. The best quiz-writing team on the wheel.
Friction
The Performer's made-up fact was obviously a joke. The Daidalon has already fact-checked it, twice.
The myths agree
Both are artificers' showpieces that move as if alive: Yan Shi's dancer, which turned out to be leather, wood, glue and lacquer (Liezi, ch. 5), and the statues of Daedalus, which in Plato run away unless they are tied down (Meno 97d-98a).
