The Jar and the Guard
Talos and Pandora
Pandora opens jars; the Talos guards against whatever comes out of them. One starts thirty chats a week on a whim, the other runs the same careful review every morning. They could hardly be more different, which is exactly why each finds the other fascinating.
Together
Pandora brings the surprising idea and the Talos checks whether it holds. Between them, they discover things and keep them.
Friction
Pandora hates being told to verify. The Talos hates being told not to worry about it.
The myths agree
Siblings from the same forge. Hephaestus shapes Pandora from earth and water (Hesiod, Works and Days 60-61), and by one tradition he gave Talos to Minos (Apollodorus, Bibliotheca 1.9.26). One opened the jar; the other guarded the shore.
