Aristotle's Thought Experiment
Tripod and Daidalon
Both are Wanderers who treat AI as an instrument, so they range far and expect results. The Tripod sends the machine out and the Daidalon makes sure it comes back with the truth. Agent and auditor, and they like each other enormously.
Together
The Tripod builds research agents and the Daidalon tethers their findings to sources. Fast and right, a lovely combination.
Friction
The Daidalon wants every automated answer checked, which slows the Tripod's beautiful machines to a walk.
The myths agree
Aristotle names them in one breath: if every tool could do its own work, like the statues of Daedalus or the tripods of Hephaestus that entered the assembly of the gods of their own accord, master craftsmen would need no assistants and masters no slaves (Politics 1.4, 1253b).
